Wordpress: How to Import Content
Want to move to wordpress? and worrying about your contents like your posts, and comments? Well, worry no more because wordpress has a feature where you can import your content from another platform.
Wordpress can import your content from other platforms like Blogger, Blogware, TypePad/Movable Type, Dotclear, Greymatter, LiveJournal, etc.
How: In your dashboard, go to Tools and choose Export
Steps in Importing content from an export file
Note: Export file can be in TXT, OPML, or XML Format.
- Login to your old blog and get the export file and Save it in your computer.
- In your wordpress dashboard, choose tools and go to import.
- Choose the blogging platform of your old blog.
- After choosing the blogging platform, Browse for the export file (what we did in step 1) and choose that one.
- Click the Upload file and import button and you’re Done!
Steps in Importing content from Blogger
- In your wordpress dashboard, choose tools and go to import.
- Choose your blogging platform which is Blogger.
- Authorize Wordpress to access your Blogger account by clicking the Authorize button.
- After authorizing, you will see your Blogger blog listed. Click the allow access button.
- After pressing allow access button, you’ll be back in your wordpress dashboard and you’ll see your blogger blog’s name and URL, click the import button beside it and you’re Done!
Steps in Importing content from database
- In your wordpress dashboard, choose tools and go to import.
- Choose the blogging platform of your old blog.
- Fillup the required fields like database name, password, etc.
- Now, press the import button and you’re content will be imported. You’re Done!
